Introduction

The Regional Landscape Plan is a strategic document that sets our priorities to guide our work. The scope of the plan gives us flexibility to respond to changing needs, opportunities and funding priorities over its life span. More specific strategic aims are laid down in documents like the Pest Management Strategy and the Drainage and Wetlands Strategy.

The 2021-26 Limestone Coast Landscape Board Regional Landscape Plan has undergone a review in 2025:

  • To see how our partners and stakeholders feel we have progressed against the plans we made for 2021-26.
  • For our Governing Body and staff to reflect on what has been achieved since the implementation of the plan.

We appreciate all the input from people and organisations around the region as it provided valuable feedback for us to draft the next version.

In summary, we heard that the plan is appropriate, that our activities aligned with the plan, that the priorities were the right ones for the Limestone Coast, and that we could demonstrate progress towards our Statements of Success.

There were opportunities for improvement that we have responded to in this draft of the Regional Landscape Plan.

What’s different

We have simplified the context for each of our five priorities and shown how each of them intersects with one another. The Vision statement is gone, in a more contemporary approach, and Focus Areas are relegated to annual business and project planning, since they can often change over time. Statements of Success have been replaced with Commitment Statements, that are more strongly focused on what the Limestone Coast Landscape Board can do in each priority, and it is here you can see how action in one priority will benefit others.

What has stayed the same

Our core focus on the five priorities remains the same. We still intend to consider the effects of climate change in all our work, and will continue listening to our partners, stakeholders and community. Our commitment to Walking Together with First Nations is unchanged, as we believe there is much to learn from one another, and it is important to have a First Nations voice in decisions that impact Country.

Please take this opportunity to provide your feedback and help us to ensure we are meeting the needs of the Limestone Coast community.
